“My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?

Have you ever wondered why Jesus asked this question particularly when as we are told via the bible, pastors and Sunday school instructors that he knew his tragic fate…why did he mumble those words since as it is written he knew his Fatherly-given vocation?

Did not he know that he was The Sacrificial Lamb?

Perhaps, he didn’t know that he was divinely selected to die by the hands of the Roman authority. Could the Synoptic Gospels be nothing but fairytale as it is alleged by countless theologians…as it is purported by critics of biblical literature? Were the details altered in such a way to mythicize the character, Jesus…were the stories given numinous characteristics to elevate his eminence so that he would saintly sanction the phrase Jesus is Lord?

He who controlled and continues to control The Greatest Story Ever Told controls the minds of the vulnerable.

Each and every one of us will be helpless at some point in our lives. Many of us have already been in a position of No Way Out. More accurately, some of you are in a hopeless predicament at this very moment.

Life and the life lessons we encounter leaves us with no choice but to be among the Naked…the Defenseless…the Weak…the easily Transformed…made anew by the grace of God’s alleged word.

Our decisions are reflections of the consequences that become the pieces of fabric that encases our earthly subsists. Some have large, and others have small garments made from the fabric.

Maturation is the teacher and the seamstress. Our threads whether thin or thick will eventually break…leaving us oblivious therefore invoking, Why?

Since there is legitimate doubt, confusion and a plethora of misinformation regarding the mythical creation, Jesus

We should consider that Jesus's story was not pre-determined...it may not have been the way it was Written and Understood. Have you ever asked yourself if the misunderstandings about yourself are justifications for your questioning, “My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?

If you are brave enough to believe that Jesus was simply a rebellious man defying the Powers of the Day you are well on your way to understanding his purpose without your Faith Lenses.

And, for you bible enthusiast, Saints and Believers of Christian doctrine, yes - I am aware that Jesus began to ‘backtrack’ toward the end of his beseeching which is clearly bellowed in Psalms 22.

Throughout the beginning of Psalms 22 the writer, David, issues a liturgy of questioning, then David shares the psychological anguish Jesus endured as he was ridiculed while on the cross as if he (David) was writing a song that’s used to invoke defeat, David intensely continues by describing the physical trauma of the torturing (The Crucifixion) – it is as if David is singing a classical opera that summons heartache. Later David uses ‘but’ –a transitional pronouncement- that describes Jesus’ resurrected faith and belief that God did not forsake him. It is here in this refreshed and joyous segment of the Psalm that David wants the reader to understand the context of his canticle:

Like us, we begin our hardships with doubt…doubt that God is not with us or will not be present. In our pleas of desperation we want to know if God is in fact forsaking us. There is nothing wrong with this lack of faith considering we are human beings that are sick, we are Feeble. We are plagued by what this world (you and I) purchased In the Beginning:

Iniquity

Disappointingly, we fail to follow Jesus’ example in that he literally asked The Question, “My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me? which I believe opens the door for the personal dialogue that’s necessary to build a singular relationship with God. As we continue during this monumental moment, many of us undergo a ridicule phase that’s carried out by haters…the enemies we face daily, Imitating Friends. The Churchgoers seated next to you.The men/women who constantly for no apparent reason talk about God any and everywhere. Those folk...

At some point we become sick in mind, spirit and health. We are in pain. Then and only then - when the door has been re-opened that we transition…we move from divine scrutiny to believing.

Restoration has returned.

Beloved, this is the process we must seek to Become. We must doubt, question...when we are in this weary locale so that our faith will be Born Again.

Resurgence awaits.

I ask that you mumble the words of The Son,

“My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?

God...Does God Exist?

God...Does God Exist? This is a complex question if you have ever allotted significant time to analyze it. Typically, the question is ignored...evaded without any intention to respond...it is a question that The Believer refuses to allow entry into their spiritual psyche...believing that if they cautiously entertained the intellect stimulator their very brief ‘lapse in faith’ will be a direct pass to Hell.

Ironically, the question in many ways emphatically supports one's faith because the concept of a God Force cannot in any way…under any circumstances be confirmed. The confirmation only…ONLY has support from one’s faith disposition…from his/her religious assurance which in most cases has been formed under life’s distress or as a routine acceptance of religiosity.

Inversely, to question the existence of God displays an effort to critically think...to think within reasonable parameters that are protected by intellect; and not convictional emotionalism.

Interestingly, the book featured in the accompanying photo attempts to prove God's factual existence which has changed the landscape to some degree. There has not been a meaningful exertion to PROVE that God is lurking among God's horribly flawed creatures, Humans. Well, more accurately, there has not been an attempt that's removed from 'I believe because of my faith’. Which actually invalidates The Believer's logical legitimacy...The Believer becomes a believer by faith – and nothing else.

Faith is an intangible…it is an elusive…it is so vague The Believer cannot under any circumstances explain their Faith.

But, I must admit that any answer from a scientific perspective will be thought-provoking:

“With the recent wave of books on atheism becoming New York Times best-sellers, the God debate is heating up. Because of the implications, it's the most significant question of all time: Is there a God, or isn't there? In this compelling book, Ray Comfort argues the case with simple logic and common sense. If there is a God, surely He has made His presence known so that anyone, young or old, scholar or school child, can find Him. By applying basic logic to three clear evidences for the existence of God, Comfort will help you to: * Examine the case for evolution and see what top scientists are really saying about the theory * Explore the facts that led the world's most notorious atheist to acknowledge a Creator * Investigate the evidence to discover who God is through 100% scientific proof, you can know God exists.”

A Saving Stampede in India?

Please be informed…it is not only Christianity that is deserving of constant criticism and persistent suspicion. Religion if it is going to be promoted as a means to save one’s soul and create a life of bliss, it is worthy of constant scrutiny.

For me, I have always been amazed by the power religion conjures within people. Not a poised power of overcoming odds – but the power that should regulate people to the status of mentally ill if one does NOT remove the religiosity that brings forth bizarre, and for some peculiar behavior e.g. speaking in tongues, believing that a man survived in the belly of a whale, believing that 20 virgins in heaven await a delusional man, or believing that exorcisms are healthy alternatives to medical and psychologically healing.

An approximate total of 30 million people –as tradition dictates- bathe in Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, the Yamuna and the Saraswati rivers in India as a form of devotion - and the confident belief if done (bathe) he or she is washing away/removing their sins…transgressions…and frees one from the cycle of rebirth. The latter –fear of rebirth- is a telling example of what religion does to the mind of the individual who lives a life of preventable misery…as if returning to a human life form is that tragic particularly if the present life has been a self-induced problematic consequence.

Nonetheless, there was an unusual concluding twist to the Indian tradition that’s performed every 12 years,

36 Dead in Stampede at Hindu Festival in India

I encourage you to think on this for a brief moment…

You mean to tell me after bathing and having faith in their deed of devoutness and hopeful removal of sin, thirty-six of the devoted Hindu Believers were crushed to death in a stampede at a train station immediately following their religious act of conviction…?

Was this their reward for opting to cleanse their souls…are they now heaven-bound…are the Hindu followers removed from potential renascence - or is this tragedy another disturbing occurrence that mirrors ‘God’s Work or God’s Neglect’ that we should mentally transport to the unexplainable category of

Thou shall not Question…Thou shall not seek an answer via Seeing…

We must eventually examine religion without a faith lens…but with reasonable questioning and with intellectual –not emotional- veracity!

If not, the Believers of any religious faith particularly the religions that if questioned with reason and logic would be considered a Flock of Foolishness; and the adherents would be committed to insane asylums.
