Blessing, Coincidence or Charity

Christians are forever attributing the goods that occur in their life to a God granted blessing. Sometimes at the expense of not giving themselves any credit or verbal accolades for their hard work. Then there are those Christians that swear on their dead grandfather’s life that the reason they live in a five bedroom home and drive a big boy Lexus is because God has blessed them abundantly. Both of these versions of a Christian somewhat irritate me – but the latter typically fires me up considering the most devout Christians in this world are dirt poor. Where are their blessings?

Friday, April 8, 2011 at approximately 5:15PM I saw the words ‘Begin Fueling’ blinking on a petroleum dispensing apparatus. I was at the gas station, and without removing my debt card from my pocket I saw again ‘Begin Fueling’. Flashing! Stun and not sure what to do, I decided to remove the handle from the apparatus, place the device in my Jeep’s gas nozzle, I selected the 87 grade (the cheapest), and then I began to pump gas. After the rush of excitement and the nagging concern that I was being watched or videotaped I took a deep breath and relaxed. I calmed down! The gas stopped dispensing at $40. Then I got in my aged SUV and drove off.

Now, do understand that I am on a strict budget. Really strict. Unemployment insurance just gets me by…barely. It is hilarious how I stroll around the grocery store seeking the BEST deal on all items that Judah, Bryce, and I need for nourishment. Funny…until I see a random person with a cart full of all the goodies I once engulfed when I could afford them and when I did not give a damn about what I put in my bodily temple. Within seconds I developed a slight tingle of heat that rushed down my back while eyeballing the dressed in pajamas, head scarf and flip flop wearing, bad weave job profiling, and food stamp card carrying individual yelling at her child.

When the fire settles on my trapezius muscles I acknowledge that my past and present life can be characterized as a, Blessing. But, I of course do not dismiss the hard work I have contributed to what I deem as success. I humbly give myself credit and pay homage to my LIFE inspirations e.g. Donnie Holt and Tracy Barnes. And, definitely in no way whatsoever do I give all the praise to God. Nope…not me! If I do that it would mean that I believe God is controlling my affairs. Directing my destiny. I just cannot accept that God is that concerned about my privileged life considering the most righteous of us are going without while I am not missing a meal and drinking Miller High Life like water.


So after reading this, and not that I believe that I have changed your church-learned belief please answer:

What was my episode at the gas pump on the 8th: Blessing or Coincidence?

Friday –I want to believe- was a gracious display of Paying it Forward. Charity. I truly want to conclude that the individual that drove off prior to my arrival was interjecting a Samaritan act into Friday’s unpredictable atmosphere. I want to believe that I am the recipient of a Good Deed. I want to believe that someone was simply trying to help out the next man/woman. You know what? This –all of my ‘I wants”- are what I am GOING to believe!

I will not dismissingly toss it up as coincidence…I will not self-centeredly toss it up as God’s work. Nope, I will not do that! Instead, as I have stated above, Friday’s event was a gesture of giving.
We can change the world with heartfelt acts (after all the disappointment I still believe this...). We can also literally reformat our religious beliefs in such a way that they will work for us and others no matter where we stand in God’s House.

Religiously Repeated Rubbish

One pastor said it - and many more have repeated it for the longest time. Generation after Generation…has heard it. Say something long enough with a Christian dogma and it becomes the most effective tool of propaganda!

This is an unfortunate example of how ignorance permeates within religiosity. Much like superstition, ignorance should not be uttered, validated, or supported in any form.

"Generational Curse"

I have feverishly cringed each and every time I have heard that phrase come out the mouths of men and women who claim to be leaders of the vulnerable, God's People. I almost break out in hives when I hear God's People say, “Generational Curse” to justify why something has occurred in their lives. I get the same nauseated feeling when I hear, “I am blessed and highly favored.”

First and foremost please understand that NO life is a curse. The person who claims that they are blessed while acknowledging a curse also knows what they are implying and speaking into existence. And it is properly labeled a

Religious Contradiction, which is considerably popular within the house of the Lord. And, the religion named after the insecure Christ is leading the way on the hell bound rode of surface understanding.

A Curse is parallel to a Spell.

What religious person believes in a spell? Too many! Church people are easily manipulated with mystery...that's why they go Sunday after Sunday to receive the erroneous ‘Word'. My question has always been, what part of King James’ redacted and convoluted version includes Black Magic? Too much of it! Which is the reason limitless misunderstanding reigns!

They, the anointed and self appointed, actually stand in the territory for Sunday morning false regurgitation (the pulpit) and say:

"You are like you are because what someone else in your family has done. You carry the curse."

Meaning:

You have no control over what happens in your life unless you break the spell.

Really? Pastors and churchgoers are in the business of reversing and eliminating "perceived evil"? No, this is Religious non-sense at its best!

What is insanity?

Some psychological trained men and women defined it as doing something over and over again and getting the same result...particularly when the result amounts to brain numbness.

One is borderline crazy if he/she believes for a moment that curses are placed on an entire generation of people. Who is doing the 'placing'? Besides, spells exist only in one's mind. He/she makes the 'root' work! The same goes for Satan; this so called evil spirit is a "mind perversion".

All this time, and you have been working to eradicate a curse. Inconsequently, what you have been doing is trying to avoid the same mistakes made by your father or mother who may have turned out to be horrible parents. You were not cursed with anything because they failed you. You were just a victim of behavior that can be altered.

Alter it.

Stop listening to religious staples that are used to intellectually confine you, and that have been solely applied to people of color. Black & brown people are the only people on the face of this earth who have been tagged as carrying a CURSE. Another tool utilize by The Western Church, that your Black Church emulates, to instill false cultural inferiority.

The only curse and spell you - The Believer in Religion – have is religious intolerance and ignorance. So, if you are a declared Christian or something remaining from an established religious authority that degrades the intelligence of God's People consider yourself now informed and

Healed.

No cheap olive oil (anointing oil) or payment (tithe) necessary.

Digesting the Religious Placebo

Christianity is a medication for most of its 'patients'. Many were at church early today getting their prescription filled. Yeah...you a patient if you utilizing Christianity. Don’t be mistaken! And, they paid for the prescription by tithing. Such a waste!


Preachers often tell their sickly that they are broken; in need of saving. In fact, the preacher beats the congregate down with how they are falling short repeatedly – then he/she asks the weak soul to cough for them: cough up some money. If only mucus was accepted…

Christianity's 'antics' make the Christian feel better. Some actually say it has changed their lives. Like a wonder drug!

However, medication – true medication that’s created and sold by the greedy pharmaceutical companies - can really change a life for the better. How I wish that I did not have to acknowledge that!

Kaiser Pharmacy’s make certain that before the pill popper takes medication that they are given a plethora of information on its ‘power and affects’. They, Kaiser, actually has several facilities located around metro Atlanta that solely provides medication counsel.

I would like to believe that most conscientious people needing high blood pressure and cholesterol pills do conduct some level of RESEARCH on what they plan to swallow. Many times that is not the case considering the over medicated environment within the United States.

It is so ironic that most Christians do not do the research on what they believe in and spiritually ingest. They are taking medication (Christianity) without knowing a damn thing about its origins, its purpose, and its history with other people around the world e.g. the destruction of thousands of Pacific Islanders’ spiritual faith by missionaries who conducted their ‘mission’ in the name of God. That –in fact – is forced suicide.

Suicide is murder.

Murder is what was done to millions of people when they rejected Christianity’s medication of deceit and propaganda:

The Catholic Church has destroyed lives that cannot be repaired with a two minute pompous video. That limited form of medicine will not work!

What will continue to keep Christians deathly ill is the medication that they are receiving on a weekly basis e.g. church service and bible study. The complete composition of Christianity is avoided at all cost leaving the Believer believing in only a minute version of the History of Christianity.

And, they wonder why they still sick (sinning). I will tell you why:

Missing Your Savior

Saviors can come in any form especially when the one needing the saving is desperate.

Many of us, the non-saintly, were desperate when we answered that nauseating Sunday altar call. At that moment of saving, The Desperate are told that they are now welcomed into God’s divine, and distinguished fold.

The ramifications of desperation, however, do not suddenly disappear – the vices that we refer to as unwanted affects are lasting. They are like a cancerous tumor. They are malignant.

In the challenge to be anew with Jesus’ sacred blood (got that from Sunday school), they – the Saints (as if their vices do not dominate them) inform the Babes in Christ that they will “backslide”. Is that a group dance…Backslide? The backsliding creates another desperation that’s linked to the unrelenting concern about failure. Failing at being someone new, different. Church-goers classify the backsliding as fighting demons. “It be callin me.”

The “devil’s pull” (I don’t believe in NO devil) is that significant? That tough to beat? Have we asked ourselves why?

Perhaps, it is because we are trying to repair a defect that cannot be ‘fixed’. Defective means whatever that’s not working has an issue that cannot be eradicated. Thus the reason we send back electronics that stop working. Sending back - is similar to jumping in (baptism). Perhaps, it is because we are unable to acknowledge that a Savior is right before us.

Having the ability to say the following is spiritual growth that has been confined to religiosity:

“He saved me! I said, He saved me - not a dead Jesus. He/She did.”

That he/she could have been the man/women that you dismissed prior to entering your house of religion…simply because he/she was unsightly and/or smelly.

Imagine if your Believed-in Jesus approached you now...he may not look good! Additionally, if he shows up at your door with black skin, thick lips, a large nose, and nappy hair, you may turn him away…even after he says, ‘I am the Son of God, come and walk with me. I am taking you home.’ Door slapped!

I recommend that we stop ignoring our Living Saviors. God sends us one everyday. Unfortunately, you are too busy waiting on the unbelievably magnificent to occur (Rapture) – and missing your divine opportunity.

Years ago my Savior came in the form of what the Holy Book describes: black skin, thick lips, a large nose, and nappy hair. And, it (life) has been worth it since that day. No Michael Angelo image taken me anywhere! No pie in the sky believing for me!

Now, think back on your past week. Yeah……..he/she was God's instrument.

Fear...Not

Do you recall from your readings of the Hebrew Bible the moment Moses came down from Mt. Sinai to disturbingly find his people in drunken uproar and disobedient discontent? After witnessing the outlandish behavior of the people Moses in frustration threw the Law of Obedience tablets – better know as the Ten Commandments – in the direction of an idol of worship, better known as the Golden Calf. Tell me that you remember.

For me, after reading and repeatedly watching the scene in the movie, The Ten Commandments, I knew then that I had questions concerning divine authority.

Over the years, that critical questioning mechanism has intensified. Actually, it has created a storm. A good storm. In this storm, I have remained steadfast in my opinions that have become my beliefs and my rhetoric. From the hail, thunder, and lighting a book was born.

Now, as I continue on my Truth Discovery I am discovering that my commentary on religion confuses those who take the time to interface with me via Facebook, email, blog, Twitter, and other social networks. The mind boggling begins for the critic of my words with the following question:

‘Muata, do you believe in God?’

Then if I do not answer the question in the way it is wanted to be heard or read, I get:

‘Muata, be careful. God does not like disrespect. You need to be fearful of God.’

I love that last part…because I can respond with,

“I have never feared God and I do not plan to ever be afraid of God. Actually, I challenge this God each and every day. I demand He show His Face. He has not for not only me – but for countless people around the globe. So, I don’t fear Him! Why should I…because God made people pay (punished) for not fearing Him?”

Then I address my last question above with:

“Perhaps, I should fear God considering He sanctioned the murder of babies, He supported the brutalization of women, He facilitated mass ethnic cleansing, He condoned homophobia, and He worked in the despicable realm of condemnation, envy, and jealousy.”

This is the God of the Hebrew Bible and King James’s New Testament. This is also the God of so many Christians who use scare tactics to instill fear. Fear of a Being that only exists in imagination. Think about that…These Christians fear something that they have made up to revere.

Then I get again:

‘Do you believe in God, Muata?’

The response that will never change:

“Belief in God is a self created force. We imagine it. Therefore, our lives are dictated by what we believe. With this understanding one must admit/agree that our belief systems are reinforced by our imaginations. God is a Figment of Imagination. Now, does that make God not real? Not sure...the finality of thought and belief is yours to make.”

So, Moses threw those tablets not only to get the people’s attention, he threw them to make them afraid of the power he had just witnessed from God. Or, did he imagine what he saw up on that hill?

If the biblical story of Jesus is valid, true - his intentional sacrifice and God-sanctioned suicide for The Believers was for nothing. It served no life saving purpose. Your Jesus committed suicide for you, and you continue to dishonor his work. Think about that before you get offended...finish thinking? Why for nothing?

Because...

His theologically flawed followers – including the religiously inconsistent non-believers are STILL sinning and polluting the universe with flagrant disobedience which gives perfect indication that Jesus failed to be effectively impactful. Same as Moses. He too failed to rally the wanderers with obedience. Two unsuccessful Hebrew and New Testament giants – and their disloyal sheep. Losers and turncoats.

We cannot and should not separate the one who failed from the unpreventable. The failure is the result that we live with every day. Look around...

You know what I am talking about...You see what I see. Your conscience is the indicator. Is it clean? Or, is it dirty? I will be the first to stand and shout, 'I am dirty. Filthy.' As a result, I have been FROZEN. Generating no life. Sharing no life. Is there a ‘saint’ willing to provide a testimony?

The fountain's life form – H20 - is stuck in place.

As this year comes to a close I know that there will be a lot of melting while in place. Life, like the fountain will eventually begin to flow again. Rejuvenating our existence.

Inconsequently, the frozen molecules of life will be superficially rejuvenated by empty rhetoric at Night Watch services all across the globe. That religious diarrhea of the mouth will be puked by ego-driven disciples (preachers) that actually need to remain frozen e.g. Eddie Long and the other usual suspects.

What is this Authentic Rejuvenation?

Our lives are constant. Life goes on and on. Unlike the water fountain we don't have to recycle the same life forms which are often times mistakes. We have the ability to purify ourselves. The ability (I said)!! But, our tired New Year resolutions are proof of our failure. Of our wasteful attempts to refocus.

If the story is biblically inherent, Your Jesus tried to cleanse you when he committed a crime in his final act of embarrassing desperation to be heard. To be seen. To be acknowledged. Nothing else worked! Not even his divine magic e.g. resurrection and ascension. Nothing! His death should have been the Christian Good News.

As my good friend, L. Scott said, "No one pays attention to good news any longer." He is right, and it is a fact that I should have gleaned from my textbook readings of the biblical text years ago while in seminary. I must have been too busy chasing the skirt of the preacher’s daughter.

The Good News Jesus spoke of (if the story is true) was vehemently rejected. Irresponsibly ignored as if it was meaningless metro news i.e. black man shot multiple times resulting in death at a Church’s Fried Chicken franchise while he attempted to protect four Latinas.

The crime, the Messiah’s bad act - became shallow celebrity news e.g. Kanye West and Lady GaGa: will be forgotten! Do you know how much brainless attention this secular human worshipping gets? More than we realize!

Let's personally resolute ourselves with the one and only gift we should have during the Christmas and Kwanza season - and in the New Year, TRUTH and LOVE! Hell, if you must, commit a crime to get yourself to that un-pearly gate of truth and bliss…like YOUR Jesus did…No - we ain’t ready to sit in incarceration for righteous rebellion.

Not sure why not…we spiritually incarcerate self each and every time we heed to Joel’s white-washed instruction to turn to our church neighbor and say, ‘Jesus is Lord.’ Some of these men and women are sending you straight to hell…if there is one.
